I am Datu Mohammed Yousseff “Ahmed” Powers Paglas, the eldest son of Datu Ibrahim Pendatun “Toto” Paglas III, and, by our culture and tradition, the successor to the rulership of my dear father. My whole family would like to thank you for the messages and kind memories you have shared with us about my father. The past days have been difficult for all of us, pain overwhelmed the whole family including those (like you) who knew and loved my father. That as we wake up each and everyday we face the sad reality that he is no longer with us, physically though if I may say, because his memory will always be with us, his vision and ideals for peace and economic development we will continue to pursue as if he is just being around, “away on an out of town trip”. He may have left us so suddenly but he did leave a legacy that left a mark in our hearts. I wish that we continue to give justice to those memories and not let his endeavors be wasted. We may never see him again but he will be remembered as we go through life, in the service of the less fortunate, as we relentlessly pursue lasting peace thru sustainable economic development in Mindanao.
